Mistakes

I’ve been participating in a lot of Swaps lately.  Seems I made two ATCs for the group Zentangle Inspired Art, mailed them off, feeling right proud of myself.  A few days later I was informed in an email that I had sent off the wrong size.  The Swap called for 3.5″ x 3.5″ Zentangle size drawings.  I had sent 2.5″ by 3.5″  ATC size. Oops.
So, rather than  beat myself up for not reading the instructions properly, I just told Cheryl, the hostess, I would prepare two more pieces.  Luckily the drawing are not due until the end of November.  Now I know why I like to get things done early.  If I do make a mistake, I still have a chance to correct it.
Here are the first two ATCs I sent:
Zentangle Free Swap-Nov '13 - #2 of 2
Zentangle Free Swap-Nov '13
Here are the two new ones I drew:
!01 Zentangle Free Swap #1 of 2
!01 Zentangle Free Swap #2 of 2
Actually, I like the second set I drew much better than the first.  Sure hope the recipients like them too.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I look forward to your comments.

Is This Cheating?

A new tangle from Zentangle.com called “Quib” is featured in this week’s Diva Challenge. In addition, at my group Zentangle Inspired Art, the TOW (Tangle of the Week) happens to be the same tangle. So, I’m posting my rendition at both places. Is that cheating? Should I have drawn a different one for each site? Truthfully, there are not enough hours in a day to make as many ZIAs (Zentangle Inspired Art) as my heart wants to draw. Hope you like this one. It’s on beige card stock and colored with gel pens. Your comments are appreciated and welcome.

A Bird In Hand

Quote

Maya Angelou
“A free bird leaps on the back of the wind
and floats downstream till the current ends
and dips his wing in the orange suns rays and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage
can seldom see through his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
of things unknown but longed for still
and his tune is heard on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom.”

This little bird was tangled onto a template which I tranferred to (8.5″ x 11″) white card stock. The template was drawn by Ben Kwok, a member from Ornation Creation group. Do hope you like this little Bluebird of Happiness and leave me a comment. Thanks for viewing.

This template is drawn by Ben Kwok. He posts it on the Ornation Creation Facebook group. I transferred the original mandala (8.5″ x 8.5″) onto card stock and colored it with Staedtler triplus fineliner pens. It’s shaded with graphite pencil. Thanks for viewing. Your comments are always welcome and appreciated.
